Scientists invent rapid prototyping machine that can duplicate itself

Categories:    -Companies and deals-   -Interesting sites-   -Technology-   -Tips&Tricks-   -Misc-   -Open Source-   -People-

Rapid protoyping machines (also known as 3D printers) are used in design projects to create a quick mock-up of a device being built in order to test, examine and use it as prototype. The 3D  printetrs use special wax or plastic compound to bulild an item based on it's digital CAD drawings, by printing layers of material one on top of the other. Using rapid prototyping machines speeds up the design and testing process during the conception of a new product. The problem with such machines is their high cost. Using and maintaining such a machine for simple low const projects is too expensive in many cases. How can a 3D printer price be brought down significantly ? Well, how about a 3D printer that can reproduce itself and multiply ?Celeste Biever from NewScientist.com reports that  scientists are working on such macines at the University of Bath in the UK.

Number of blogs estimated at 200 million

Categories:    -Companies and deals-   -Interesting sites-   -Technology-   -Open Source-   -Web 2.0-   -Web marketing-

Blog Herald estimates the number of existing blogs at 200 Million.Think of it this way- approximately every 5th of the estimated 1,018,057,389 web users (according to Internet world stats) has a blog. In other words, there are m-a-n-y bloggers out there with readership of 1. In case they read their own blog. What the overwhelming number really means is that the public has taken publishing into their own hands. Competition over readers is fierce and the best will win. Another implication is that individual blogs are getting harder to find in the sea of blogs. So more and more bloggers should consider writing for open blogs like linkadelic magazine. This cannot be bad for the readers and web users.
