Seriously...

There are very few scientists who would argue that humans have had a negative impact on the environment, not the least of which is human induced climate change.  There are several reasons to believe this.  Get 3 charts for the last thousand years showing temperature, CO2 emissions and human population.  I think the fact that all three start exponential growth starting around 1850 is hardly coincidental.

Northern regions are experiencing much higher than average increases in temperature than the rest of the world, and this is alarming because the northern ice caps are disappearing at faster rates.  New record depletions are recorded year after year.  This year scientists are alarmed that there is bare ground where there is normally feet of snow.  The ice in the waters on Canada's north coast hasn't begun to recover from last years record melting, and has begun this years melt.

This melting ice is fresh water - and fresh water likes to float on salt water.  However, when the ice caps melt the water is so cold that it sinks below the warmer salt water.  This is the main driving force for ocean currents.  Yet as the ocean becomes less salty (from the addition of all that extra fresh water), that process starts to slow down.  It has been proven that the gulf stream has slowed.

A slower gulf stream means more heat stays in the tropic region, where ocean temperatures are proven to be warmer than they normally are.

Let's imagine a one centimeter rise in ocean height and a one degree rise in ocean temperature.  One centimeter of height over the entire ocean is a lot of extra water.  One degree of temperature over all that water is a heck of a lot of extra energy.  Storms get their energy from the heat in the ocean - there IS more water, and that water DOES HAVE a higher energy density - I guess that Category 6 Hurricane that they just defined is something American scientists must forsee happening more often.

Along with that slower gulf stream is a Labrador current making it's way to Europe, makign that region colder.  They have been experiencing colder temperatures and more severe winters for a few years now.

We've thrown it all out of whack.  We needn't worry though, the Earth will fix itself, it's quite good at that.  We might not be around but...
