CoMagz is a citizen media website which provides communities and groups their own online magazines—the CoMagz "CoMagazines".
The content of a CoMagazine is created by users and rated by users. Any user can submit hot news, articles, and recommended links—or even write a column.

Goal

CoMagz wants to be your favorite place on the web for reading and writing about items that interest you.

Voting

Users rate submitted content, so the best content is shown first. This system enables you to find the information that is most interesting to users like you.

Community

CoMagz is also a community of people with shared interests. All users who choose to register with CoMagz are automatically given their own page in which they can put information about themselves. Readers of a CoMagazine can contact each other, discuss ideas, exchange information, and more.

Registering is optional. You don't need to register to read a CoMagazine.

Much Ado About Java

So, what are the citizens of East Greenwich worried about? Is it the anemic growth in our states job market that stands at only 0.8% (half the national average of 1.5)Is it the a sharp drop in building permits or the significant drop in manufacturing employment? Is it the war in Iraq?Is it terrorism, the environment, global warming, the stand off with Iran, nuclear proliferation, Avian flu?Is it the 3 dollar a gallon gas prices? Is it the alarming number of businesses that closed on main st this year?Is it what Paris Hilton wore last night?Oh No. If you read the “letters to the editor” in the April 27th issue of the Pendulum, you cannot help but conclude that the most burning issue of our time is the lifting of the restrictions on the liquor license at main Street coffee. It appears, if I understood the messages behind the letters (5 anti, 1 pro), that the addition of 20 seats to the establishment and the lifting of the restrictions on its ALREADY EXISTING LIQUOR LICENSE, is tantamount to a declaration of war on the citizens of EG and on everything we hold true and dear.... by: Samy Ashkar

An Ostrich Only Succeeds In Getting Sand in Its Eyes

As I shovel myself out of the second snow storm in 7 days, I cannot help but reflect on this unusual 2005/2006 season. A series of ferocious hurricanes pummeled the Gulf Coast, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, causing deadly floods and catastrophic mudslides. The west coast saw its second worst wildfire season since 1960.  The Arctic ice cap shrank to its smallest size on record.  Regardless of the causes, global warming is a fact and it is here. It matters little now whether global warming is because of geological changes or greenhouse gases or a combination of both, the bottom line is the same.... by: Samy Ashkar

GSE Restructuring Threatens Housing Market

Them media has recently been talking about rising housing costs and focusing on a problem those of us in the real estate industry have been concerned about for some time – home prices are rapidly exceeding the reach of even moderate-income families, to say nothing of those making below average wages. Even though more of us own homes now than ever before, a time could be coming when home ownership is once again only for the wealthy.Home prices have been steadily rising for some time now. Low mortgage interest rates have kept the market active and home ownership rates have reached all-time highs.... by: Visitor

What should you do if you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car.A penny saved is a government oversight. Why is the word abbreviation so long? Why are a wise man and a wise guy opposites? Why do overlook and oversee mean opposite things? The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the righttime, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then yourbody and your fat have gotten to be really good friends. It is true that a husb... by: Rogue

Good Hygiene And Common Sense Is Our Best Defense Against A Flu Pandemic

The Bush administration today published plans to prevent an outbreak of avian influenza in the US, a day after the agriculture secretary forecast that the disease would show up in migratory birds later this year. Birds carrying the lethal strain of avian influenza are expected to show up on the east coast and other parts of the United States as early as this summer according to federal officials. Within the next few months, wild birds from Asia will migrate into Alaska and mix with North American birds. Some of these birds will fly along the East Coast and are expected to head south in the summer and fall, carrying the disease with them.... by: Samy Ashkar

This car is powered by yesterday’s dinner

Our dependence on oil is responsible for many of the environmental, health, and security problems we face today. We in the USA consume 25% of the worlds oil supply or about 20 million barrels a day, of which 12 million is imported (as on March 2006). Finding a way to ease our dependence on oil presents one of the paramount challenges of our age.  Biodiesel has been gaining worldwide popularity as an alternative energy source. This environment-friendly fuel reduces tailpipe emissions, smoke and odors. Biodiesel can be used in any new conventional diesel engine with very few or no engine modifications.... by: Samy Ashkar
